Prototyping gets our affordable housing ideas out of our head and into the world. A prototype can be anything that takes physical or digital form—a wall of post-its, a role-playing activity, a mind map. In early stages, our prototypes will be quick, vague and blurry to learn quickly, receive feedback and explore possibilities. Prototypes for affordable housing are most successful when residents and stakeholders can understand, experience and interact with them. They’re a great way to start a conversation. What you learn from conversations with prototypes drives deeper empathy and shapes successful solutions.
